Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a dedicated server?
Yes. The Remotto server needs to run continuously, so we recommend a dedicated server or virtual environment.
Can I test it in my environment before deploying?
Yes. The free plan supports up to 5 devices with no time limit and includes basic features. For organizations considering a full deployment, we can also issue a time-limited trial license with access to all features. Feel free to contact us.
What’s the difference between the free and paid plans?
The free plan (up to 5 devices) includes basic features such as screen monitoring, remote control, and file distribution. Paid plans unlock all features including web restrictions, print management, usage logs, scheduled tasks, and LDAP/AD integration.
Do I need to reinstall when upgrading from free to paid?
No. Simply import the license key from the Admin Console. All settings and data are preserved during the upgrade.
How does the licensing work?
Licenses are one-time purchases for the period you need. There’s no automatic subscription renewal, so no cancellation is ever required. For example, purchasing a 1-month license activates all features for that period.
What payment methods are available?
We accept credit card payments via Stripe. After purchase, your license key is automatically generated and delivered by email.
Does it support Mac or Chromebook?
Currently, only Windows 10/11 is supported. Mac and Chromebook support is planned for future updates.
Can it work across different network segments?
Yes. Screen monitoring and remote control work across network segments. Wake-on-LAN operates within the same segment, but if at least one Remotto client is online in that segment, it can relay WoL to other PCs.
Will screen monitoring create heavy network traffic?
Remotto uses an on-demand streaming approach — video is only transmitted for devices currently being viewed, keeping network impact minimal. FPS, bitrate, and resolution can all be adjusted from the Admin Console.
Are users notified that their screen is being monitored?
The client runs silently in the background with no user-facing notifications. Whether to inform users in advance is left to the administrator’s discretion based on your organization’s policy.
